Communities Directory - Part of the Intentional
Communities website, a project of the
Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC) (in partnership
with other organizations). Intentional Communities can
update their listings online so you get the most up to date
information possible. If you are looking for an intentional
community, ecovillage, cohousing, commune, co-op, or other
cooperative living arrangement, browse through their
alphabetic list or search their database. You can filter
your search on many key characteristics of each community
such as location, size, etc. This website is funded
completely by donations plus volunteer labor. If you find
this site useful we encourage you to donate to the

day with a Shekinashram Superfood Smoothie! We respect the
precept of non-violence, and therefore any food brought onto
the premises must be strictly vegan. This means food free
from any animal ingredients, ie no meat, fish, dairy, eggs,
or their derivatives.

GaiaYoga
Gardens Intentional Community - E-mail: aloha@gaiayoga.org. We have a
wonderful piece of property on the east side of the Big
Island of Hawaii (in Kapoho, near the town of Pahoa). It's
17+ acres of forested land, with a very strong
Native-Hawaiian feeling. There are a number of communities,
organic farms, and cooperative homesteads in this area. As a
learning center, we see GaiaYoga Gardens as a place where
adults and children can learn about holistic and sustainable
living &emdash; through classes, workshops, retreats,
internships, work-learning exchanges, and especially through
experiencing our lifestyle first-hand. We currently offer
instruction in sustainable homesteading (permaculture,
off-grid technology, bio-fuels, etc.), Nonviolent
Communication, hatha yoga, natural diet (including
maximizing raw-foods in one's diet), Tantra, spirituality,
and cooperative living.

Pangaia - Situated on the
eastern edge of the volcanic rift zone of Hawaii, this is an
extremely fertile area, blessed with equal parts showers and
sun. We envision unity between earth mother Gaia and
ourselves. We seek a full and complete expression of our
being through work, art, play and our relationships with
each other. One of the most fundamental goals at Pangaia is
to move toward sustainability and harmony with our
environment. Through this process, we are discovering
ourselves and our nature - cultivating an intimate bond
between soil, plant, animal, and human, and crafting a
landscape of harmonious resonance. Inspired by those goals,
we are a mainly vegan, raw-food community and living active
permaculture. We welcome guests, visitors, interns,
work-traders, friends, and potential long-term residents who
are sincerely interested.
